As we know, Harum Manis is a famous fruit in Kangar,Perlis. It is called harum manis because it emits a fragrant aroma and a sweet taste. The filling is thick yellowish and tastes good to eat with glutinous rice as one of the traditional dishes in the state of Perlis. It is also delicious eaten alone or processed in the form of juice or jam.

Harum Manis will appear according to the season. The season at the end of march and lasts for 100 days. But not a long rate, just a month or a month and a half of the season. Seasonal causes the fruit to have limited stock. One of the famous suppliers is from this Azhar Adha farm.

Kak Jue is a partnership in this Harum Manis business also said that during the Harumanis season the demand is very high and it is the best opportunity in generating income for them. They also hire students to assist in the delivery process and so on.

What makes this mango more unique, in Malaysia, Harumanis only grows in the state of Perlis. Many studies and experiments have been done by various parties to grow Harumanis fruits in other states, but so far it has not been successful.

Harumanis can be turn into many types of dessert. All of the dessert that are made by this particular fruit are like by many throughout the globe. One of the dessert is Harumanis Puding. This dessert is made with the mixture of eggs,milk, Harumanis, puding mixture and some colourings. This dessert is famous and suitable for kids.
Pulut mangga is one of the signature dessert using mango in Malaysia. The Harumanis fruit will be eaten with glutinous rice and coconut milk that is mixed with pandan leaves. This dessert is famous among the adults in Malaysia ecspecially in state of Perlis.
Orchards visit from us
We are from University Utara Malaysia, a group of students from Banking course have made a service learning at 'Ladang Harumanis Azhar Ad'ha' in Perlis. The purpose of the visit is to help them to take care of caterpillars and pest and trip lice of leaf cutting insect and to help them promote the business through social media. By that, we have proposed a solution to cater the problems.
What we were able to learn was that to produce good Harumanis, they must take care of the tree with great care because they very sensitive. Hence, soil, water and weather also play an important role in ensuring fruit success.
